Amakpe International Refineries:
Usua H. Amanam is co-founder and president of Amakpe International Refineries, the first company to successfully fabricate and obtain proper licensing for a private oil refinery in Africa. The modular refinery currently awaits shipment to Amanam’s hometown of Eket, Nigeria. When construction on site is completed, it will process 12,000 barrels per day (BPD) of Qu a lboe crude into gasoline, diesel, naphtha, and fuel oil. Amanam’s desire to supply jobs to those in his own community helped drive the decision to make the second largest city in Nigeria’s top oil-producing state its homestead. Once online, the refinery will offer 200 jobs to local residents, but through the scheduled expansion of processing capacity, that total is expected to rise to over 500.

Amtrat International Corporation:
In 1981 after a short stint with the California Rural Health Federation as a health program specialist and later as marketing director, Amanam noticed that there was little or no trade between the United States and most developing countries. At the same time, store-returned merchandise, whether shoes, garments, furnishings, or accessories, were either given away as donations or sent to landfills. He founded Amtrat International Corporation to bridge the gap between the U.S. consumer’s appetite for new and improved merchandise and the basic needs of growing populations in developing countries. He formed a coalition with various domestic and international business leaders, growing the business to a successful multi-million dollar enterprise that served over fifty-five countries around the globe. The company’s success has enabled Amanam to play a pivotal philanthropic role as a community leader in both the United States and Nigeria. In return, various communities, international associations, cities, and financial institutions have recognized his accomplishments with awards, certificates, and accolades. As President/CEO of Amtrat International Corporation, Amanam’s company was a longstanding member of the local Better Business Bureau and had strong business affiliations that included the likes of both the California and U.S. Chamber[s] of Commerce.

Senior Partner – Maxim Assmaye Construction Company:
Amanam’s desire to provide children around the globe with the opportunity to invest in their future through education, lead to a 30 million USD project funded by the Government of Afghanistan, to rebuild and furnish a school system damaged by the war. The project was completed in December of 2007.
